"Together we are better"

Final Report about the Network Group for Psychodramatists Working with Children and Youth, 31st of January until 2nd of February 2025, Sofia, Bulgaria

We were very happy to welcome 30 participants from 8 countries to the 10th meeting of the network group “Psychodrama with Children and Youth”.

Our topic for the meeting was:

Case Monitoring of a Trauma-affected Child and Adolescent

We agreed on an experiment that, we will look at selected cases of a trauma-affected child and adolescent and work through it together, reflecting on the techniques used and the underlying theories of the different schools of psychodrama.

Many enriching presentations and discussions took place. Inspiring moments as we tried to better understand each other and ultimately ourselves, reflecting on the “when”, “how”, and “why” of psychodrama therapy with traumatized children and adolescents.

The role of the therapist playing along gave us an insight into the differences and similarities between the different schools.

The child psychodrama therapists of the Hanna Kende School and those of the Alfons Aichinger and Walter Holl School have been working together in an exemplary way for many years. What was special this time was that we also connected our Russian colleagues with us online. Many thanks to Craig Stevens, the Welsh Dragon, who always shows us how to work with youths.

And finally, we were able to experience the revival of the famous group “Talking Heads” and their greatest hit: “Once in a lifetime (together in Sofia)”.

Thank you for the time of sharing, encounter, and creative play.

We will meet again next year in Zagreb from the 30th of January to the 1st of February. Special thanks to Ivana and Vedran for the invitation.
